MozarT research project
MozarT is a collaborative research project aimed at developing a monitoring system for architectural textile structures subjected to tensile stress using intelligent membrane materials. The aim is to monitor the behaviour of the material under extreme climatic conditions and its deformation over time. This will enable the technical and economic efficiency of textile structures to be increased.
Textil Bau took on the role of the SME with practical experience in the cooperation project and, in addition to the joint planning process, was responsible for implementing the demonstrator.
The funnel structure made of PVC-coated membrane erected in the Saxon village of Dorfhain was equipped with woven and embroidered sensor technology. The sensors record data in a highly automated and accurate manner, providing forward-looking insights for intelligent membrane alternatives. These can be particularly useful for safety-critical and difficult-to-access structural designs such as stadium roofs or railway stations.
