Textil Bau equipped the seal cliffs at Frankfurt Zoo with four motorised roll-up sun protection sails. A motorised shaft divides the sail area diagonally to roll the fabric up and down. The sails can be extended and retracted independently of each other at any time by remote control or automatically. A connected weather station provides additional protection against overload. The sun protection was mounted on powder-coated aluminium supports.

The shading provided by several sun sails stretched across the enclosure corresponds to the organic shapes of the terrain. Frankfurt Zoo opted for shading in order to better protect the animals from UV rays.
