Zebrastraat

Zebrastraat (Dutch for ‘Zebra Street’) is a small street in the Belgian city of Ghent. The building, also known as Zebrastraat due to its location, is a private project that focuses on residential, entrepreneurial and cultural initiatives.

In the inner courtyard of the building complex, there is a large cultural event tent which dominates the courtyard with its two high points and the ‘nail’, an art object by the artist Marnix Verstraeten.

The tent was designed, manufactured and assembled by Textil Bau in 2006 and has been used intensively by cultural professionals ever since. Due to the regular assembly and dismantling of the large tent, the membrane covering was replaced after 10 years.
